ACLAR CFP

Abstracts which address the conference theme are welcome and the full range of children’s texts and media can be examined.
Papers can engage with, but are not limited to, the following topics:
    •    representations of identity politics such as gender, race, class, age, nation, ability
    •    protest literature
    •    public gatekeepers including teachers, librarians, publishers, booksellers, politicians
    •    private gatekeepers including parents and other caregivers
    •    the politics of prizes
    •    activist literature
    •    social justice such as homelessness, environmentalism, land rights, animal rights
    •    Indigenous self-determination
    •    critiques of capitalism and consumerism
    •    technology and surveillance
    •    multiculturalism and citizenship
    •    globalization and/or nationalism
    •    terrorism
    •    the politics of theory or genre
    •    politicising the figure of the child
Abstracts (of no more than 300 words) are due by: 29 January 2010.
